Questions to Ask Your Mormon Friend
Effective Ways to Challenge a Mormon's Arguments Without Being Offensive,
by Bill McKeever and Eric Johnson. Bethany House Publishers, Minneapolis, MN,
1994. Pb., 192 pages.

Many Christians seem to think that there is little difference between Mormonism and Christianity. They are impressed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the clean lifestyle of the Mormon faithful, their missionary zeal, their radio and television. programs.

Worldwide membership has passed the nine million mark - a threefold increase in 20 years. And 50,000 missionaries are scattered across more than 140 countries.

In our age of moral relativism, the notion of family values, sexual fidelity, and a ban on tobacco and alcohol use are appealing. Who are the Mormons? Why are they classified as a sect? And why can such nice people be so wrong? The fact is that a Mormon who claims to be a Christian denies key doctrines of the Christian faith.

How does one witness to a Mormon? There are a number of questions a Christian can ask. The questions help Mormons see the inconsistency of their faith. The authors give information that can be used to challenge Mormons to seriously reexamine their doctrines. To help Christians understand Mormon vocabulary a dictionary of Mormon terms is provided at the end of the book.

Each of the 15 chapters begins with a pertinent question with an explanation outlining why the question is effective. Two of the questions are,

1. Why does the Mormon church ignore Jesus' role as Prophet of God's church?

2. What historical support does the Mormon church have to justify baptism for the dead?

This is an excellent tool for anyone looking to increase their knowledge of Mormonism.
