Reformed Reflections

Reverend Johan D, Tangelder was born on April 16, 1936, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 1954 he immigrated to Canada with his family and became a Canadian citizen in 1959. He is married to Helen Feasby. They have four children and several grandchildren.

Education:

For elementary and high school education, Rev. Tangelder attended Christian Schools in the Netherlands.

1958 - he received a Certificate of Ackowledgement for Managers in Training (Retail Stores).

1962 - B.Th. Central Baptist Seminary, Toronto, Ontario

1963 - Drs. Th. Free University, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Church History and Mission majors.

1964 - Joined the Christian Reformed Church

1965 - 1966 - Attended Calvin College, Calvin Seminary for three semesters

1967 - Ordained to the ministery of the Christian Reformed Chruch

1975 - Attended the Dutch L' Abri.

1962 - Instructor in Church History, an evening course at the Independent Baptist Bible School, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

1964 - Stated supply, Lindsay, ON

1967 - 1970 - Pastorate, Vernon, B.C.

1970 - 1977 - Pastorate, Wellandport, ON

1977 - 1979 - Served with the Board of World Missions. Instructor at the Christian Reformed Seminary and Bible College in Bacolod City, Philippines where he was also administrator for one year.

1979 -l989 - Pastorate, Strathroy, ON

1989 -1993 - Williamsburg, ON

1993 - Minister emeritus.

- a seminar on the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit at the University of the Philippines, Los Banos.

- World Religions at Redeemer College, Ancaster, Ontario.
