The Herald Sri Lanka
It was with much sadness that we did hear of the passing away of John -
Rev. T, as we used to affectionately refer to him. We want to assure you, Alice Ann, Bernard, Johan, Mary, and the rest of the family of our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.
We have such wonderful memories of Rev. T and all of you and do thank God for His wise providence that brought us to Strathroy East in 1981 to "fill in" for Rev. T, as he recovered from his open heart surgery. He was a wonderful mentor and pastor and became a dear friend, who continued to keep in touch with us and support our ministry in Sri Lanka in different ways - most of all through his inspirational and vibrant writings which graced our denominational Magazine - "The Herald".
I am what I am today, because of good Pastors like Rev T and we would thank God upon every remembrance of him.
I do not have to labour the point that the Reformed Church is poorer for having lost such a knowledgeable stalwart of the Reformed Faith who also had such a great pastoral and missionary heart.
Maxine and I, together with the Church in Sri Lanka, join you in grieving his loss, but also rest in the assurance that we all have through Christ, that Revd: T, is enjoying the nearer presence of Lord and one day we have the hope of seeing him again.
Until that day, we pray that the Lord would grant you all His peace and comfort and our simple tribute to Rev. T would be summarized in the words of our Lord - "Well done good and faithful servant."
With every blessing and our love.
As always,
Maxine / Charlie (Jansz).
